well, hello there! long time, no see. how are ya? all good? there's a lot to catch up on... set a spell, maybe have some coffee...
after flying ant day, i suffered the mother of all catastrophes when my computer completely died, taking all the work i'd been doing with it. this necessitated many extra hours in the office - which is why, dear reader, i have been so remiss in posting. that is my excuse and i am sticking to it.
as we've both been so busy at work, spacemonkey and i have been keen to get out of the city and in to the fresh air. i am now the proud owner of some funky bike leathers, so we've been able to take max (the bike) out for a serious spin. all the lovely weather this summer has proved perfect for getting out into the beautiful countryside Oop North. you can keep your rolling hills, southern england - the moors and chevin are where it's at.
summer has brought a fresh raft of nuptials. some of spacemonkey's friends got married and we spent a glorious and drunken weekend in bath. it was a really lovely wedding with lots of personal touches, and i particularly approved of the choice of candy statton's 'you got the love' during the signing of the register.
my younger cousin also got married in late august, and much time was given over to frantic dieting and personal training sessions in order to make sure that i didn't look like a 6-foot, 30-something, bright pink lump in my bridesmaid's dress... with the help of some god-awful spanx pants/girdle thing and some seriously light eating, everything went ok on the day (aside from the fact that my other cousin had to sew me into the dress). i come from a very big and close family and it was great to see everyone again for a big celebration.
after all the chaos of work, weddings and other whatnot, spacemonkey and i managed to escape to tenerife for two weeks of sunshine, sudoku and sod all else. fantastic! we stayed in a really fancy spa hotel and are now both nicely tanned and relaxed. highlights included going to a big animal park (where i got way, way to excited by the orca show and sat in the splash-zone, only to spend the rest of the day complaining that my clothes were soaked in whale-water), driving through the crater of mt tiede, and going for long walks on the beach.
best of all, though, was being able to spend two whole weeks of quality time with spacemonkey - i'm a lucky gal to have found such a wonderful man. which brings me to the last bit of news.
there are still a few details to be worked out - the house purchase hasn't completed yet, and my job transfer still needs to be finalised. but the big news is that citygirrrl will soon be leaving the city and moving in with the wonderful spacemonkey in the lovely home we've bought together Oop North!
dear reader, i am very, very happy indeed.
